Q.  Can my client find out that Bentley Publishing Group is the publisher?
A. Bentley Publishing Group’s name and address is no-where on the site, nor the linked site, www.designcollection.biz. The client would have to recognize the art and know who we are already, or try and track us down via part numbers. 
 
Q. How hard is this to set up?
A. Its easy. Call us and we can do all the work. It only takes a few minutes. We do need to know a bit about your business to help set the filters that decide what should show up on the site. We do have an agreement that needs to be signed, but its an easy read. Take a look at our Getting Started section.
 
Q. Can I modify my own site once its set up?
A. Yes.  You can do it yourself, or we can do it for you. You’ll have your own private password and access to an administration page. You can upload your logo, change your address and contact info, and change the images that show up on your site. Q. Can I show artwork that is not coming from Bentley Publishing Group?
A. No. Only Bentley Publishing Group art can be shown. That includes Aaron Ashley, Bentley House, Rinehart Fine Arts, Grand Image Posters and Leslie Levy Publishing.
 
Q. Can I have more than one site?
A. Yes. Many have several sites – maybe one for new art, another for value art, etc. Think about how your clients want to find art.
 
Q. Can my clients search within my site?
A.  A full featured search system exists on every site, and only searches through the items that you’ve allowed on your site.
 
Q. Can my clients collect their picks in a selection basket and send them to me?
A. Yes. A Selection basket exists on every MY.DOG site, and the default is to send it to the e-mail address in your profile. They can also send the selection to third parties – like an architect, or someone else involved in the choosing process.
 
Q. Is there a way for me to set up a view box – where I list the items I want someone to see, then send them a “link” or special search keyword which, when they use it, shows all my image choices instantly?
A. Yes. Its quite easy to do from your administration site. A Bentley Publishing Group account manager can train you how to do this.
 
Q. How do I, or my customers get to my site?
A. You can type into your browser an address like www.designcollection.biz/CUSTNO where CUSTNO is your customer code. But the best way is to create a link from your existing website – that has this URL imbedded in it. When we create the site, we will tell you what your “URL ID” is.
 
Q. Who maintains my site, adding new images and taking old out of stock ones off?
A. Bentley Publishing Group does. Your site, behind the scenes, ties in with the data tables and image files that supply www.bentleydigital.com, our main image library. As we update that site (and we do it weekly), the updates flow automatically to your site.
 
Q. Can the images on my site be shown with frames and mats around them?
A. No. The functionality to do this does not exist in our system. But you can have a custom add on made to show your frame selections. Framerica has already done this for you with their profiles, and these can be shown on the site at no cost to you.
 
Q. Can I show prices for framed pictures on the site?
A. Yes, sort of. All our prints have price codes. The Framerica profile pages have price codes too. You can make a price grid that shows prints with a certain price code, combined with a moulding of a certain price code, with a standard matting process, are a certain price. Q. I don’t buy directly from Bentley Publishing Group. Can I still have a MY.DOG site?
A.  Yes. We developed this for anyone that is specifying artwork. Often designers need access to and help with selecting art, but then the order flows through a contract manufacturer. Other firms may order our prints through distributors, either in the USA or other countries. We’ll just need to understand who you are, and we’ll be glad to let you use our system.
 
Q. What does it cost?
A. We do not profit from the provision of this service. We do require that you support the only industry organization that is trying to increase consumer interest in wall décor. The Art & Framing Council “AFC” www.artandframingcouncil.org does just this. There are a number of firms that collect a 1⁄2 of 1% surcharge and pass it along to the AFC. You must agree to let these firms begin collecting that 1⁄2 of 1% when they invoice you. For most firms, it’s a trickle added to invoices. But for our industry, it really helps. If you don’t buy from any of these firms presently, then the site won’t cost you anything. Right now, the firms are Larson-Juhl, Bentley Publishing Group, Zinsel Moulding, Roanoak Moulding, Southern Moulding, Studio Moulding and The Williamson Company.
 
Q. What if I try it, then don’t like it?
A. We’ll just turn it off. No harm done.
 
Q. What are the ways I can control what images show up on my MY.DOG site?
A. There are lots of ways. Its easier to just do it than to talk about it. But here are the filter criteria, which can be used in combination:
 
• Show paper prints only, or include canvas transfers.
• Show only a specific list of prints (for firms with fixed product lines).
• Size of print.
• Newness of print.
• How well a print is selling worldwide (bestsellers only, etc.)
• Prints on special price programs.
• Minimum quantity on hand of a print (on our floor).
• Artists can be specifically included, or excluded. One artist, or many artists, or all.
• By publisher (Aaron Ashley, Bentley House, Rinehart Fine Arts, Leslie Levy, Grand Image Posters)
• Based on their suitability for designers
 
Q. I already have a website with an image library. Can I still use this, or show BPG images?
A. Yes. You can use this as a supplement, or, if you prefer, we can send you a CD with all our scans and data tables, which you can import into your own system. It lists both additions and deletions, which you will need to manage to keep your site current. This CD comes out every two months. If you just need a few of our scans, just save them right off our web site www.bentleydigital.com.
 
Q. Can I get a listing of all the items that appear on my MY.DOG site?
A. Yes. In the admin center, there is an option to get a report. This report comes in .csv format, and can be saved to your hard drive. It is really easy to import this into excel, and lists all the info you’ll need about each item on your site.
