Benn Zaricor is a southern artist with a particular
interest in capturing the feelings of the past
through simple images and signs.
I have been fortunate to know many old sign
painters and artists from the past. l create my
pieces using the techniques that were handed
down to me as a gift from of these masters from
another time. My works are not replicas but
rather living pieces created in the old way.
The feelings associated with long forgotten
images come alive again. It may be from a trip
to a New England fishing village, a vacation
to Old Florida, Cuba or California, or a cold
mountain lake village that is preserved forever.
The imagery has its roots from France to the
Mississippi Delta and everywhere in between.
The warmth that comes from these memories of
yesterday is something that makes us all more
comfortable today. We are all part of what we
have seen.
