Roger Williams was born into an artistic family in
the light-filled Southwest. After completing his
Master of Arts degree and a stint of teaching art
in Colorado, Roger moved to Santa Fe, New
Mexico where he continues to pursue a
successful painting career.
The substance of Roger Williams' paintings comes
from his experiences. Through his extensive
travels, Williams' inspiration is triggered by visual
and emotional life on location. This plein-air
work in the field is the foundation of his studio
paintings. In addition to his travels Williams is
constantly drawn back to his favorite painting
subjects of the Southwestern United States. “ It is
difficult to abandon the history of who you are
and from where you came. I cannot resist the
skies along the Rio Grande basin in Colorado
and New Mexico. It is not only home, but it also
has the most extraordinary light, unlike any I
have experienced elsewhere.”
Williams works primarily in oil and pastel media
and has exhibited his paintings internationally
in France, Mexico, and Colombia as well as
extensively in the United States. The Artist has
had over 20 one-man shows throughout his
award winning career and currently is working
on next endeavor.
When he is not out traveling looking for
compositions, Roger can be found in his home
in Santa Fe New Mexico.
