Neville Sanford grew
up on the white cliffs of
Dover, surrounded by the beauty of the sea. His
mother was a locally renowned landscape
painter and her devotion to the land around
her and to her art inspired Neville to pursue
painting as a career. Neville’s father – though
not an artist encouraged his son to follow his
dreams. At sixteen Neville left the family home
to study abroad and hone his skills. To support
himself while studying Neville worked with the
local fisherman to supplement his income - and
through this he built relationships that have
lasted a lifetime.
Neville’s love of the ocean is very apparent in
his work. His paintings are calm and draw the
viewer into a world where we would all want to
be…from palm trees to warm empty beaches.
Today, Sanford lives and maintains a study on
the southern coast of Italy surrounded by the
water he loves.
