Sherry Masters grew up in small towns throughout
the South, from the hills of Tennessee, and as far
North as the suburbs of Chicago. The daughter
of an oil fields worker, Sherry didn’t have a very
ordinary childhood, but it was an education
in itself, teaching Sherry how to adjust to new
places and things and meeting new people,
which she says has been a tremendous help in
her adult life.
A self taught artist, Sherry Masters didn’t discover
her talent till her “thirty-something’s”. As she
came from an artistic and musical family it
came as no surprise. Her art has given her the
opportunity to go places and meet people that
she would never experienced otherwise.
When asked what inspires her most, Masters says
it is by the things around her, such as the woods
and creeks and the beautiful Appalachian
Mountains where she lives. She believes her
paintings are a reflection of more peaceful
places and times, when people knew their
neighbors and didn’t lock their doors.
Sherry has experience with most mediums, but
prefers oils, for the rich colors and the way the
oils blend. Oil also lends itself to the use of both
brush and palette knife. Her favorite subjects are
landscapes, and all the places her imagination
can take her. Sherry likes to think that when
people look at her work they will know that she
loves nature and quiet places.
Besides painting, Sherry loves to travel, and has
been to Ireland, England, Wales and Europe.
She is avid reader and enjoys curling up with
a good book. She also loves cooking and
entertaining, as well as outdoor hobbies such as
gardening.
Sherry now lives in Georgia with her husband
Chuck. They have four grown children and four
delightful grandchildren. The only one left at
home is their fat, tortoise shell cat, named Shell.
Sherry Master’s works are published exclusively
by Bentley House Fine Art Publishers of Walnut
Creek, California and distributed worldwide.
