English painter Sir Edwin Henry Landseer (1802-
1873) was one of the most famous and prolific
artists of his time period. Known for his paintings
of animals, but especially for his expressive
paintings of dogs. His work had great significance
in popularizing the anthropomorphic concept
of animals.
