Joseph Lancret – a native of Montreal Canada,
discovered his talent at a young age when
his parents provided him with his first set of
watercolor paints at the age of nine. He went
on to improve his skills through workshops – but
was largely self taught. At 17 he left Montreal
to travel abroad in France, Italy and Spain.
Throughout these travels he took the opportunity
to spend time with local artisans learning many
different techniques, subject’s and styles. Upon
his return to Montreal, Lancret began showing
successfully in galleries and soon his work was
being sold in the US as well as Western Europe.
Lancret currently maintains a studio in Canada
but spends half the year traveling and exhibiting
internationally.
