For Constance Lael, there is no greater joy
than creating something of beauty. “Upon
observation, an emotion is touched deep within
the soul that enables us to cherish life in a more
intricately beautiful way.” Through her art, Lael
hopes to convey the splendor of simple
everyday things such as the sparkle in a child’s
eye and the love of one another.
Lael grew up in the small town of Troutman,
North Carolina. She was raised with a strong
sense of church and community. She feels
God has given her the ability to see with vision
and the talent, perseverance and skill to
communicate that beauty on paper. Today
Lael resides with her two children in Statesville,
North Carolina.
She attributes her parents for encouraging her
artistic ability. “My mother told me I always had
a pencil or crayon in my hand as far back as
she could remember.” Lael’s mother continued
to encourage her with private art lessons
throughout her childhood. After high school,
Lael continued to study art in Statesville, North
Carolina at Mitchell College and received a
Bachelor’s in Fine Art from Queens College.
Lael draws her inspiration from the natural
beauty of the world. For example, flowers are
one of Lael’s favorite subjects because of their
extraordinary beauty and variety. Lael uses
colored pencil in combination with mixed
media to achieve the detail and control
necessary for her detailed flowers.
Constance Lael is published exclusively by
Bentley Publishing Group of Walnut Creek,
California.
