Ken Hildrew was born in London in 1934 and
studied art at the Woolwich School of Art. He
has been a professional artist for 15 years. Before
painting full time he worked in advertising and
television. His free interpretation of landscapes
has, over the years, gained him an international
reputation. His work hangs in private and
corporate collections in the UK and abroad.
He now lives and works in the West Country
close to Exmoor. His technique and style are
greatly influenced by Turner, Whistler and Seago.
Hildrew’s paintings have been described as
peaceful and mysterious, sometimes a
momentary electrifying interaction of light and
air. They are natural without being sentimental;
traditional but not stereotyped.
