Stan Ekman was born in 1913 in Chicago, Illinois.
He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and
began his career at age twenty-four by
designing the American Airlines logo. His
illustrations appeared on two Saturday Evening
Post covers, and on the covers of Colliers,
American Weekly and Coronet magazines.
His genres include landscape and illustrator. He
was a member of the Society of Illustrators in New
York, Artist Guild in Chicago and the Society of
Typographic Arts. His work has been included in
many private and corporate collections,
including the Santa Fe Railway collection, Bank
of America and Northern Trust.
He was a longtime resident of Paradise Valley,
Arizona and passed away in 1998. His daughter,
Jean Ekman Adams, is also an established artist
who lives part of the year in Arizona.
