Ruth Burke uses her "creative eye" to etch from
life onto film, what captures her attention. The
result is a film original or "photographic etching"
that she will convert into a digital file or "printing
plate" to be read for making a giclee print. Her
methods combine traditional photographic
techniques with the latest in digital technology
giving her full control of the image as she brings
it to life in print form.
Ruth Burke received most of her training in art
and photography in her home state of Texas.
Twenty-five years of artistic growth began with
drawing, painting and collage which led into
photography as her medium of choice. Ruth
perfected her art of printing in the traditional
darkroom, later to combine her skills and vision,
expanding into the technically superior
process of giclee printing. A Ruth Burke will
always include her signature in Silver metallic
ink. She currently resides on the Texas Gulf
Coast, where her images of the ever-changing
coastal landmarks and wildlife excel in
popularity. Prints from her travels to the East
and West coast of the United States, Mexico,
many islands of the Caribbean and England,
France and the country of her family, Italy are
included in many corporate and individual
art collections throughout the world. Each
year she continues to add to her collection
of prints, creating a selection from new and
archived images.
