In 1929, Welby was born in Nebraska and
moved to London after high school graduation.
After settling in London, Welby began to study
art. Between school breaks, Welby immersed
herself in European travels.

European landscape was Welby’s first true love,
but soon moved onto creating floral designs
consisting of romantic roses and global palms.
When Welby became inspired by architectural
elements of antique urns, they began
appearing in her designs as a base for her florals.
Welby is now known for her detailed borders
and urns which add depth to her designs.

Welby’s technique varies from soft muted brush
strokes to heavy color applied by a palette knife.
Welby’s greatest achievement lies in the subtle
color and tone changes within her designs.

Welby is published and licensed from Bentley
Publishing Group of Walnut Creek, California.
